Official requirements

• 35 × 45 mm, face 70–80% of the photo height (chin to crown about 32–36 mm).
• Plain light background, neutral expression, mouth closed, no glasses glare.
• Most consulates want printed photos: print the file at a photo shop at 100% size.

Questions

Does this check that my photo will be accepted?

No. It sets the correct size, shape and file size. You still need to follow the official rules on background, pose and lighting.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Cropping and compression happen in your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

The face is cut off. What do I do?

Use a photo with space around the head, or switch "Position" to "Centre". The tool keeps the top of the photo by default, where the head usually is.
