A wrong photo is one of the most common reasons DV lottery entries are disqualified. The entry form wants a square colour JPEG of 600 × 600 px and no more than 240 KB. This tool crops, sizes and compresses your photo to match.

Official requirements

• Exactly 600 × 600 px, JPEG, colour, 240 KB or less.
• Head 50–69% of the height, eyes in the middle third, face straight on.
• Plain white or off-white background, no glasses, recent photo.

Questions

Does this check that my photo will be accepted?

No. It sets the correct size, shape and file size. You still need to follow the official rules on background, pose and lighting.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Cropping and compression happen in your own browser. Nothing is sent to a server.

The face is cut off. What do I do?

Use a photo with space around the head, or switch "Position" to "Centre". The tool keeps the top of the photo by default, where the head usually is.
