Tonal is a photo editor for Android published by developer1021. This policy explains how the app handles your information. In short: Tonal does not collect, store on our servers, or share any personal data.
Photos you open in Tonal are processed entirely on your device. Tonal only gets access to the photos you pick through Android's photo picker. Your photos are never uploaded anywhere.
So you can come back to an edit, Tonal keeps your edit settings and a small preview image in the app's private storage on your phone. Edited photos you export are saved as new images in your gallery (Pictures/Tonal). Your original photos are never changed. You can remove saved edits from the app's home screen, or remove everything by clearing the app's storage or uninstalling it.
The "Subject" mask and "Background blur" use a machine-learning model (Google ML Kit selfie segmentation) that is bundled inside the app and runs on your device. Tonal does not request internet access, so no image or usage data leaves your phone through the app.
Tonal has no sign-in, no advertising, and no analytics or tracking SDKs.
On Android 9 and older, Tonal asks for storage permission only to save exported photos to your gallery. On newer versions no permission is needed.
Tonal is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
